Steve Gulick

Steven J. Gulick
Principal and co-founder of Gulick Associates, LLC

Raised in Wilton, Steve has over 20 years of experience in the real estate development and property management field. As a high school student, Steve devoted his summers to working as an apprentice in the various building trades. He attended Boston University in 1982 where he was a member of the Boston University men's crew ream. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Boston University in 1986.

Upon graduation from BU, Steve began his career in commercial and residential real estate development as a project manager with the firm

of Gulick and Engelke.There, he was responsible for the day to day management of several multi-million dollar projects, the negotiation of sales and purchase contracts and tenant leases, as well as the acquisition of new ventures. In 2001, Steve partnered with his brother, Michael, and his father Stephen Gulick Jr. to form Gulick Associates, LLC. He is responsible for all internal operations, the property management division, and development of new ventures. He also serves as the director of the land acquisition committee.

Steve enjoys traveling, skiing, scuba diving, baseball and fishing. He is a member of the Fairfield County Home Builders Association, Connecticut Home Builder’s Association, and the National Home Builder’s Association. Steve also attends Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield. He and his wife, Maren, are the proud parents of ten- year old Emma, eight-year old Ryan, and two-year old Matthew and reside in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Michael Gulick

Raised in Wilton, Michael Gulick has spent 18 years in real estate development and property management.  As a high school student, Mike spent his summers as an apprentice, learning the ins and outs of various building trades. He attended Muskingum College and Wright Technical School, where he studied Construction Management. After college, Mike began his career in real estate development as a project manager for the firm of Gulick and Engelke. While there, Michael managed the day to day operations of numerous multi-million dollar projects, and the acquisition of new ventures.

In 2001, Michael partnered with his brother Steven and his father Stephen Gulick, Jr. to form Gulick Associates, LLC. There, he is responsible for all external operations, estimations, budgeting, purchasing, scheduling, and quality control for all projects undertaken by the company.  As a real estate developer, Mike’s greatest experiences have been in the field, working with teams of men and women to deliver high quality projects to satisfied clients.  Michael takes a great deal of pride both in the role that the company plays in building facilities that help clients provide their services, and in building residences that clients turn into homes.

Mike is a member of the Fairfield County Home Builders Association and Connecticut Home Builder’s Association. He and his wife Tracy are the proud parents of five-year old JT, three-year old Riley, and one-year old Madison and reside in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Chris Conti

Chris Conti - Project Manager for Construction (top)

Chris is a realtor with Prudential Connecticut Reality in Norwalk, CT and has also worked with Gulick Associates for many years. Chris is currently a resident of Norwalk, and has been for over 30 years. When he is not working, Chris enjoys fishing and golfing, and also spends times coaching his daughter’s softball team. Chris will serve as the project manager for construction. He is responsible for securing vendors and supplies before the construction begins, and as the build takes place, Chris will be on site to make sure that materials, and people, are in the right places at the right times.

Lynda Falcone
Project Manager: Print Design and Website Management

Lynda Falcone, of Norwalk, is currently a freelance art director and graphic designer with over 12 years experience in marketing and promotion design. Lynda has worked with a wide range of clients, from the Barbardos Tourism Authority, to the Marriott Hawaii, to SIMON malls, and everything in between. She has been the recipient of 13 PRIMA awards for marketing excellence by her previous employer. She is passionate about her volunteering for PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society) in Norwalk and developed their out reach program called PAWS Around the Neighborhood. She also volunteers and supports local area environmental groups, including the Norwalk Land Trust.

She loves staying physically fit, eating healthy, and gardening. Lynda got involved on the project when she was approached by her cousins Steve and Mike Gulick. She is very excited for this project, adding, “I'm looking to see how far I can be pushed to get the project done in an EXTREMEly small amount of time! This will be one for the record book!”

Alice Ferreira

Alice Ferreira - Media Relations, Website Content (top)

Alice is the director of public affairs for Health Net of the Northeast. After her graduation from Sacred Heart University, Alice’s first job was for the New York Times Magazine Group, thus beginning a lifelong career in media and public relations. When she isn’t working, Alice is an opera and theatre enthusiast.

Her involvement in the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project has been a whirlwind from the get-go. When she sat down with Caryn for lunch one day, Alice thought was just getting a turkey sandwich. However, when she left, she was involved in a national phenomenon as a the head of media relations and website content/photography for the project. Alice, who says that this experience will be her “summer vacation,” is looking forward to, most importantly, making a dream come true for the Brown family, and along the way, she hopes to learn a thing or two about home construction. Alice is resident of Trumbull, where she lives with her husband, two sons, and pet goldfish.

Marleen Figueroa - Senior Construction Manager (top)

Originally from the New York area, Marleen moved to a small town in Kentucky as a child, where she spent her childhood on her family’s 54 acre farm. As a young adult, Marleen moved back north where she began her career in the service industry working for electrical and painting contractors while still in high school. Marleen continued her career all the way to the top, when she became the assistant to the Vice President of Research with Gartner, an information technology company in Stamford. Through her work at Gartner and her position as an external liaison to the management, Marleen landed the position of a property manager with Allen Management, Inc. While there, one her properties was Gulick & Engelke. Later, Marleen was asked to join Gulick Associates, as a project manager after she had spent two years managing the company’s properties while with Allen Management. She has been a project manager with Gulick Associates since 2005, where she deals with vendors, subcontractors and homeowners.

Her connection with the Gulick brothers is how Marleen become involved with the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project. She will serve as the Senior Construction Manager, where she will take on the task of keeping track of the various vendors, workers and materials, and making certain that the team sticks to its very tight schedule.

In her spare time, Marleen spends time with her husband and two children. She coaches youth t-ball, is an avid reader and a huge Yankees baseball fan, and loves four-wheeling.

Rebekah Harriman

Rebekah Harriman - Volunteer Coordinator (top)

Rebekah Harriman, of Newtown, CT is a grant writer for the City of Bridgeport, where she has been for four years. In her role with the City, she has brought in more than $10 million in funding for City and community grant programs. Prior to that, she worked nonprofit development and management.

Rebekah got involved in the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” project through her friend and former colleague, Project Manager Caryn Kaufman. Kaufman contacted Rebekah about this exciting, once in a

lifetime opportunity and now she will serve as the Volunteer coordinator, where she will be in charge of scheduling and managing the thousands of volunteers needed to make this project happen. Certainly, it’ll be no easy task, but Rebekah will certainly put forth her best effort to make sure that the entire volunteer effort runs smoothly! Rebekah lives with her partner Chris, son Fisher and a bassett hound named LuAnne.
Caryn Kaufman

Caryn Kaufman - Project Manager (top)

Caryn most recently served as the director of communications for the mayor’s office in Bridgeport, Connecticut. While the job kept Caryn very busy, she found time to enjoy working out, yoga, live theater, and concerts. In addition, she moonlights as a professional pianist, performing for various corporate and private events throughout the region. Having just left from her position with the mayor’s office, Caryn received a phone call from Gulick Associates about taking part in an “interesting community project.” As Caryn puts it, the stars aligned and she gladly accepted the role of Project Manager for this once in a

lifetime opportunity. Now, Caryn is looking forward to working with this group of talented and generous individuals, with the mission of bringing the community together, making a monumental difference in a family’s life, and of course, having a little fun in the process. Currently, Caryn resides in Milford with her two cats, Narice and Gigi.

Michael Quan - General Project Manager (top)

Michael is a Senior Project Manager in the Project Management Office at Prudential Annuities in Shelton. His office has been extremely supportive of Michael’s involvement in the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project, allowing him to take a thirty day vacation for the coordination of the project.

Michael is serving as the General Project Manager. He is familiarity with both construction and the Bridgeport Community (he is a former and founding Executive Director of the Burroughs Community Center in the city) make him an ideal candidate for the job. Additionally, he has over fifteen years of community, not for profit and social service history to the Fairfield County area. Most recently, he led a federal initiative in Bridgeport to develop strategies to improve outcomes for families and young children impacted by violence.

During the planning of the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project, on July 16, Michael became the proud father of a new baby girl.

Clinton Randall

Clinton Randall is the founder and owner of World Wide Webdesign.ca, an award winning website design and internet programming firm, renowned for its imaginative, original designs, internet solutions and affordable hosting services. He created and managed the extreme makeover website for the Brown Family - the latest winners of an Extreme Makeover, Home Edition - one of the hottest TV series on ABC Network. Originally from London, England, Clinton now makes his home across the border in picturesque Peterborough, Ontario Canada.

In his spare time, Clinton is a passionate soccer player. Besides playing on numerous teams, he also owns and manages a men's indoor soccer league.
Hillary Shapiro

Hillary Shapiro - Special Events (top)

Hilary, who is originally from Bridgeport, is the founder and owner of Scenario, a custom event-planning and marketing agency in Stamford. Scenario provides services to both corporations, and non-profit organizations, and the company recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. In her spare time, Hilary enjoys reading, cooking, and watching the Yankees – win or lose! – from Spring Training all the way to the playoffs.

Hilary had just returned from a summer vacation to Paris, when she got a phone call that turned what she had expected to be a busy, low-

key summer into the whirlwind of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Initially, Hilary was surprised to find out exactly how tight the project schedule was, but regardless, she is excited to be involved. Hilary will be in charge of the special events surrounding the project, and will produce the Wrap Party for the cast, crew, builders and sponsors; a thank-you event for the family; and a live airing event for everyone involved in the project. Currently, Hilary resides in Stamford.

Margaret Price Sims - Inventory (top)

Margaret, a Ridgefield resident, has grown up surrounded by the lumber industry. She is the fifth generation of her family to be a part of the industry, and the third generation at the Ridgefield Supply Company, the yard where she is currently the vice president. Margaret also works for Kleer Lumber as their director of special projects. She also sits on the Northeast Retail Lumberman’s Association, and in 2005, she was named the 2005 Young Dealer of the Year by the National Hardware Association. When she is not working, Margaret is an avid skier and an accomplished former equestrian.

With so much experience running lumberyards, Margaret is an ideal candidate for the job of running the inventory warehouse, located a mile and a half from the construction site. Margaret has taken charge of receiving, pre-assembling and shipping out all of the lumber and building materials that will be needed for the construction of the house. According to Margaret, her job will resemble running a mini-lumberyard for the week. Mike Gulick originally contacted Margaret seeking a donation of lumber materials. However, because she has many friends in the industry who have already been involved episodes of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” she was happy to volunteer not only lumber, but also her services. Margaret currently lives in Ridgefield with her husband.

Rowena White

Valerie Leas-Sorrentino - VIP Tent Coordinator (top)

Valerie Leas-Sorrentino, who was raised in Bridgeport, is an employee of the City of Bridgeport, and has been for the past 27 years. Currently, Valerie works for the Health Department. She is also a Business Manager with the Laborer’s International Union. Valerie has a long history of volunteer work. In 2004, she was named the Volunteer for the Year for the Health Net Nutmeg State Games. She is also on the Trumbull Arts Commission and chairs their Hospitality Committee for the annual festival. Some of Valerie’s other volunteer endeavors include coordination of the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast for the National Day of Prayer, the Bridgeport Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremonies,

Bridgeport Community Health Fairs, the Diabetes Walk, and much more.

As a huge fan of the show, Valerie is very much looking forward to this opportunity, and she says that she was unable to sleep for the entire weekend after she got the call because of her excitement! She is expecting that this will be a rewarding and heartfelt experience. Valerie currently resides in Trumbull, with her husband Vincent, son Vinny and daughter Vanessa.

Rowena White

Sue Stalling - Project Manager, Marketing & Promotions (top)

Sue, a lifelong Fairfield County resident, has over 12 years of experience in the Promotional Marketing field. She has a degree in Management and Marketing from Simmons College in Boston, MA, where she also participated in the University of Pittsburgh’s “Semester at Sea” travel abroad program.

Sue also holds an MBA from Sacred Heart University. Sue, the sister of builders Steve and Mike Gulick, the owners of Gulick Associates, will serve as the project manager for marketing and promotions on the

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project Team. She will oversee the coordination of marketing and promotional efforts surrounding the project. In her spare time, Sue, a Monroe resident, enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and two daughters, Katherine and Carly.
Bill Webb

Bill Webb - Finance & Accounting (top)

Bill is the President & CEO of Pegasys, Inc, which is a privately held management-consulting firm that specializes in the real estate development industry. Bill has received awards and recognitions both from industry publications and corporations for his high in demand services. In his spare time, Bill enjoys golf, chess and music. Bill become involved with the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Project when he was called in by the Gulick brothers. Bill is in charge of overseeing the donations and fundraising efforts for the project, as well as the accounting and legal matters involved in the project.

He has set up the “Building a Family’s Extreme Dream Fund,” and will manage donations to the fund, which will provide funds for utilities, the children’s education, and the pay-off of the Brown family’s mortgage, as they come in throughout the duration of the project. Bill currently lives in Newtown with his wife and two children, Michael and Mallory.
Rowena White

Rowena White - Advertising (top)

Rowena, a native of the Bridgeport area, owns and operates White Light Advertising, a Bridgeport-based media planning and buying service. Rowena specializes in advertising, buying and planning for local businesses and has a talent for linking local businesses with community events. Rowena is currently a Bridgeport resident. Rowena is looking forward to the opportunity to be involved, and she says that she is always up for the challenge of being involved in a community outreach program. Rowena will take charge of advertising, sponsorships and marketing for all of the hundreds of vendors, tradesmen and companies volunteering for this super-complex event.
